Track Name: Yellow Hammer
Each day you bring me little dead birds, mice, or voles, without heads
Now all of my cupboard doors are covered with bloodstains, and all of my floors are smeared red

I know it's a sign of your love for me, and by now you should know I love you
But for the love of God please I don't want any more entrails under my shoes

One morning you bought me a yellow hammer, and I became one of God's nails
It was as yet unharmed, but screeching and screaming so I took the tiger by the tail

I took her outside, kept guard beside her, and stunned, she sat there beside me
Until the yellow hammer came to her senses and headed for the nearest tree

I think I must have offended you in some way when I did what I did
You disappeared for 2 nights and 2 days, and returned home to me with four kids
Now it's rainin' cats, it's raining kittens, it's raining in my head
It's raining, it's pouring, it's bucketing down, with all creatures great, small and dead

Track Name: Hooligan Spirit
The hooligan spirit, the whiskey, the gin
Your head is a football, gonna kick your face in

Well I got two balls and I got both feet
But I'm heading down a one way street
I'm always in the wrong place at the wrong time
If you back the wrong horse it is a crime

The hooligan spirit, the whiskey, the gin
Your head is a football, gonna kick your face in

The beautiful game of life it is short
Which only lends meaning to death sports
But neither a borrower or lender be
There's a price to pay for disloyalty

The hooligan spirit, the whiskey, the gin
Your head is a football, gonna kick your face in

Drunken as lords, rolling down the streets
Challenging whoever we meet
Meeting resistance with a flag
Cross-dressing up in pantomime dame drag

The hooligan spirit, the whiskey, the gin
Your head is a football, gonna kick your face in
Track Name: Dream Woman
To be held should be prized as highly as intercourse
Higher than any other action or force
But it isn't and it won't be, and that's precisely why my dream
Was so wonderful to wake up from, this beautiful place I'd been
This dream woman who said nothing, did nothing, except
Held me so perfectly, joyously I wept
Grateful tears of fulfilment without longing
I forgave myself and others their wronging
And awoke with the most curious sensation
Of beginning a new day with anticipation
But I woke to find the full moon bathing my room in moonbeams
When I heard my snoring family of lunatics then I screamed
O dream woman, dream woman, where are you
O dream woman, dream woman, where are you
O dream woman, dream woman, where are you
O dream woman, dream woman, where are you
O dream woman, dream woman, dream woman...
Track Name: Stag
Last night I saw the stag
This morning one of his does
Crossed my wayward path
I felt the tingling in my toes
As she bounded away from us further down the trail
We followed her every move, gave her the tail

My bitch took the scent, she was hard to restrain
She took the lead, although I took pains
To hold her fast, going faster than my brain
Never jump off a moving train

The doe we found a little bit further down the trail
She was a young one, more a strong wind than a gale
Swift as the breeze she ran away and hid
Compelled we had to follow her, that's just what we did

Camouflaged amongst the holly, gorse and bracken
My bitch and I felt both of our pulses quicken
We heard a crackle, then a thump of limbs flailing
Broke cover to find the doe wedged between railings
Whose woodland green paint was peeling off to reveal red
All around were tufts of deer hair that the doe had shed
Dislodged as she tried to squeeze herself between the bars
Only failing to impress, knocked onto her ass
But one more wriggle and she was free
Fear has a crystal clear sense of urgency
She tried one more time, was rewarded with grime
Until finally she flew away along with the time

Back in the house, there's two kinds of pictured frames
The ones with old wooden galleons, and the ones with wooden names
Like 'the lone stag' and 'silent majesty'
Just looking at their antlers reminds me of a tree
While the stags have their antlers, the galleons have their masts
The trophy heads alone tell you which were built to last
Flanking portals, mounted on a plaque
Come again, come again, never coming back
Track Name: Motherland Fatherland
Motherland, Fatherland
Watch your children expand
Out of the desert, out of the sand
Badger and foxhole, ancient woodland surrounds
Bluebells and bombcraters, bronze age burial mounds

Motherland, Fatherland
Watch your children expand
Into their own homes, into their own lands
Fortified, calcified from a once mighty sea
Millions of years became chalk, dust, drawings on trees

Mother was a goddess, Father was a man
We are just the children they don't understand
All of us are living, living off the land
Soon to return to the sea

Motherland, Fatherland
Watch your children expand
Destroy the entire planet, yet not understand
Expand into time, expand into space
Expand into facts, disappear without trace

Mother was a goddess, Father was a man
We are just the children they don't understand
All of us are living, living off the land
Soon to return to the sea

Motherland, Fatherland
Watch your kids disappear
Consumed by their own greed, their own hatred, and fear
Expand into time, expand into space
Expand into facts disappear without trace

Mother was a goddess, Father was a man
We are just the children they don't understand
All of us are living, living off the land
Soon to return to the sea
